NEW YORK, NY – June 2011 – West African designer Kola Zubair will present his newest collection of Kozby World at Africa Fashion Week New York Friday, July 15th. Africa Fashion Week New York produced by Adirée. AFWNY will take place July 14th, 15th, and 16th at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York’s Financial District.
Zubair uses a large array of fabrics and textures. He designs formal ready-to-wear for men and woman, mostly using his signature African inspired materials.
“Zubair’s elegant style is timeless. His aesthetic is one to be reckoned with. He is persistent in showing his designs to the world, hence showcasing for a second time at Africa Fashion Week New York”, said Adda Tidjani, producer of AFWNY.
AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designer Korto Momolu and designers like Washington Roberts, Saint Wobil, AAMAA Couture, Bill Witherspoon and others will showcase. Sponsors include PopDrum, Mo-Saique, AveYou, Makari de Suisse, John Ashford, Renarda Joy, and Avaloni Studios. About Kola Zubair
From the time he received his first sewing machine at age nine, fashion and sewing have been a cornerstone in the life Kola Zubair. He has 20 years of experience and has sewed for many Nigerian artists such as Konga, M.Y.G Injection, Remi Akulo and Badda Snipes. In addition, he has worked with fashion house, Niro Couture and produced clothing for a multitude of fashion shows.
