NEW YORK, NY – June 2011 – As New York City’s Financial District is gearing up for Africa Fashion Week New York (AFWNY), Adirée, announces that Black Bird Designs will present their newest, innovative collection Thursday, July 16th. AFWNY is set to take place on July 14th, 15th and 16th at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City’s financial district.
Though originally a denim designer, Black Bird Designs has grown to included designs of fitted suits for men and women in an array of fabrics. Clients’ specification and desire are designers, Zeddie Lukoe and Sidney Owino, main focus – setting vibrant trends and utilizing affordability.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designer Korto Momolu and designers like Washington Roberts, Saint Wobil, AAMAA Couture, Bill Witherspoon and others will showcase. Sponsors include MO SAÏQUE and AVEYOU.com.

Kenyan designers Zeddie Lukoe and Sidney Owino are the founders of Black Bird Designs. The two friends began the company four years ago and since then Black Bird Designs is continually progressive, and expanding. Lukoe and Owino have showcased Black Bird Designs in many, international fashions.
