An Artist Named “Madhuree Joysury” Drawing Attention at Africa Fashion Week New York

NEW YORK, NY – June 2011 – Adirée, is sketching the finishing touches of Africa Fashion Week (New York) (AFWNY), taking place in New York City’s Financial District on July 14^th, 15^th and 16^th at the Broad Street Ballroom. Designer Madhuree Joysury of Yashika is exhibiting her latest collection, illustrating culture and fine arts.

Yashika is inspired by Joysury’s love of photography and painting. Her pieces are inspired by minuscule every day items, infused with color while maintaining her Mauritian heritage.

June 12^th, 2011 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City telecast by CBS, the Tony Awards honored and celebrated excellence of the arts. Awards were given to artists who have drawn inspiration from everyday, mundane life.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designer Korto Momolu and designers like Washington Roberts, Saint Wobil, AAMAA Couture, Bill Witherspoon and others will showcase.  Yaskia is to showcase at AFWNY Saturday, July 16.

Madhuree Joysury, was born in Mauritius. By the age of five, Joysury was sewing clothing for her dolls and the neighborhood’s children. In 2006, Joysury resigned a teaching job to study fashion designing in AIFT-Bangalore University (India).  Joysury was also doing professional modeling in my spare time. Joysury has worked as a designer for international brands like Jack and Jones and Vera Moda.
